There are many ways for individuals and organizations to participate in StoryCorps. Here is an overview of ways to record your story:
Use StoryCorps Connect Across Locations
Visit Our Atlanta or NYC StoryBooths
Are you located in Atlanta or New York City? You can make an appointment to record at our StoryBooth located in Atlanta, Georgia, or New York, New York.
For those who are more comfortable recording virtually, we will continue to offer virtual appointments in addition to in-person appointments.
After interviewing at a StoryBooth, you will receive a copy of your recording and you can choose to archive your conversation by signing the general release forms. We offer this service for free with a suggested donation of $50.
Record in the MobileBooth
Each year, we visit 10 cities and towns across the United States with our StoryCorps MobileBooth, an Airstream trailer outfitted with a recording studio. Partnering with local public radio stations, we offer an opportunity to residents of these communities to make an appointment and bring someone they love to the MobileBooth to record an interview. Mobile Tour participants have the option to record in-person or virtually.

Use the StoryCorps App
You can record with someone in the same room for free using the StoryCorps App. The app walks you through each of the phases of preparing for an interview, including:
- How to prepare starter questions in advance
- Identifying the right environment for your conversation to record a high-quality interview on your mobile device
- And how to share the finished product with friends and family by uploading your conversation to the StoryCorps Archive at archive.storycorps.org.
The app is available for iPhones, Android devices, and Amazon Kindle. Download the app from iTunes, Google Play, or Amazon.
Use StoryCorps Connect Across Locations
You can record in two separate locations using StoryCorps Connect, which is a first-of-its-kind platform that enables you to record a StoryCorps interview with a loved one remotely using video conference technology.
The audio and a still photo from each interview go into StoryCorps' archive at the American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress. Your interview becomes part of American history, and hundreds of years from now, future generations will listen in.

The Great Listen
The Great Listen encourages young people—and people of all ages—to create an oral history of our times by recording an interview with an elder, mentor, friend, or someone they admire. With permission, interviews become part of the StoryCorps Archive at the American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress. More than 650,000 people have participated in StoryCorps to date, making it the largest single collection of voices ever gathered. You can learn more about participating in the Great Thanksgiving Listen here.
