This article pertains to Signature interviews recorded in-person. Due to COVID-19, most StoryCorps recordings are currently virtual. But, StoryCorps has begun offering the option to record in-person in some locations.
For the most up-to-date details about our return to recording in-person, read our Safe Community Agreements.
If you are instead searching for information about a virtual recording session, please go here.
A two-person interview is ideal for a StoryCorps recording. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, StoryCorps will ensure that the recording and greeting spaces utilized on our Mobile Tour stops are large enough for three (3) people to sit at least 6” apart from one another—including the facilitator. If your interview has three (3) participants, you should expect to share a microphone at your own risk.
If you will be recording with someone under the age of 18, please let us know in advance, as minors will need to get permission from their parent or legal guardian in order to have their stories archived.
Additionally, in accordance with our Safe Community Agreements, no external visitors or contractors will be allowed in the recording space during the recording day, including family members, other staff members, and press.
If you are not willing or able to comply with StoryCorps’ in-person interview guidelines, you can instead select the remote interview option. Participants can select virtual or in-person at the time of scheduling their appointment.
