StoryCorps App users can download a copy of their interview audio after they have saved it as a draft or successfully published it to archive.storycorps.org. While most users will have no trouble downloading their interview audio after recording, some can occasionally encounter issues downloading their audio. This may happen in situations where a user’s device crashes, an upload fails, or a draft is unsaved.
To assist users who encounter these technical difficulties The StoryCorps App has a Download All Audio feature. This feature will recover any audio files that may still be saved to their device but are not visible/accessible in the StoryCorps App or connected to a successfully published interview on archive.storycorps.org. To access and use the Download All Audio feature:
- Confirm you are running version 5.1.28 or later of the app by selecting the Profile tab on the far right side of the navigation bar. You'll find the app version at the bottom of the page.
- From here, you will see a section titled Troubleshooting Tools. Select Download All Audio from the Troubleshooting Tools section and then press the red Download All Draft Audio link.
- After pressing the link, a popup will appear that says Alert Copied ## file(s) to your Documents folder.
- From there, you can leave the StoryCorps app, open up your files app on your device and select the StoryCorps folder to find your exported audio.
You'll now be able to access and review any audio files you were able to download. If you are able to locate your interview, you can manually publish the downloaded audio to archive.storycorps.org so that it will be accessible in the StoryCorps App going forward.
