I am an owner or moderator of a “moderated” community. How do I approve adding a new member or interview (note: these instructions also allow an owner or moderator to block or reject a new member or decline an interview submission)?

To approve a new member request, please follow these steps (note: the owner or moderator will not receive an email notification of this new member request or when a new member has been added to the community):

  • Login to your account at StoryCorps.me
  • Click on your username in the upper right hand corner of the screen
  • Click on "View Profile"
  • Click on “Communities (Beta)”
  • Scroll down to the community box requiring member approval
  • Press “Members” (there will be an exclamation point, “!”, to signify a request is pending)
  • Open the dropdown menu next to “Sort By” and press “Pending Members”. The pending member boxes will be displayed. There is no bulk mechanism for approving these requests; they must be approved individually.
  • Press the gear icon in each member box and a pop-up menu will appear with three options: “Accept (Pending Member)”, “Reject (Pending Member)”, and “Block (Pending Member)”. Press “Accept (Pending Member)” and the user will be added as a new member.

To approve an interview submission, please follow these steps (note: the owner and moderator will receive an email notification of this request when an interview has been uploaded; when an interview has been removed, email notification will be sent to the owner, moderator, and member):

  • Login to your account at StoryCorps.me
  • Click on your username in the upper right hand corner of the screen
  • Click on "View Profile"
  • Click on “Communities (Beta)”
  • Scroll down to the community box requiring interview approval
  • Press “Interview” (there will be an exclamation point, “!”, to signify a request is pending)
  • Open the dropdown menu next to “Sort By”, press “Pending Interviews”, and the pending interviews will be displayed. There is no bulk mechanism for approving these requests; they must be approved individually.
  • In the lower right hand corner of each interview box, you will have the option to choose “Pending Moderation” or “Remove From Community”. Click on “Pending Moderation” and then press “Click to Moderate” to accept the interview to your community. When finished, you will see confirmation that the interview has been published to your community.
