This article details the steps needed to publish interview audio in the StoryCorps App using the “Upload Existing Audio” feature. This feature gives users an intuitive way to publish interview audio in the StoryCorps App that was not successfully published during their initial upload attempt(s.)
To use the upload existing audio feature:

Log in to the StoryCorps App.

Click the person 👤 icon in the bottom right corner to navigate to your profile page in the App.

Select the Upload Existing Audio button located below the published interviews and unpublished drafts widgets.

On the Upload Existing Audio File screen, click the Select Audio File button. Supported file formats include mp3 or wav files.

From here, the steps you need to take to upload your audio files will differ depending on if you are using an iOS device (such as an iPhone or iPad) or an Android device.
- For iOS users, you can access and select any unpublished interview audio the is preserved in the app after clicking the Select Audio File button.

For Android users, you must use the Export Audio feature to export a copy of an interview to your device’s Files app before you can locate it after clicking Select Audio File. You can access the Export Audio feature in the Technical Support section of the app located at the bottom of your profile page.

After you have selected the file you want to upload, click Next.

On the Audio Successfully Added to Interview screen, you’ll be able to preview your interview audio before creating a draft by selecting Save as Draft or move forward with publishing your interview by selecting Next.

Select a photo to include with your interview. You can take a new photo, upload an existing photo, or select skip if you do not want to include a photo with your interview.

After you have added your photo, you’ll be prompted to fill in a number of required fields before you can move forward by selecting Next. These required fields are:
- Interview Title
- Summary (a 1- to 3-sentence interview summary)
- Recording Location including city, state/province, and country
- Participants (the names and emails of you and your interview partner[s])

Tag Your Story (general keywords, organizations, and places; all interviews must include at least one tag.)
Please Note: If the Next button on the bottom of the page is gray and not red, you have not completely entered the information in all of the required fields.
- Select the privacy settings for your interview before uploading it to archive.storycorps.org. You can find more information about the different privacy options for StoryCorps interviews in the Help Center article below.
- Review your interview details and photos. Once you have confirmed that all your information is accurate, select Save to Archive to publish your interview to archive.storycorps.org.

- You're done! Your interview should be accessible and appear on your profile in both the StoryCorps App and on archive.storycorps.org.
