Online Archive users control the privacy settings for any interviews published to archive.storycorps.org that appear in the Interviews section of their profile page. This includes user-generated interviews recorded with StoryCorps Connect or the StoryCorps App, as well as most Signature interviews recorded with a trained StoryCorps facilitator or using a StoryKit.
If you recorded a user-generated interview with the StoryCorps App or StoryCorps Connect
You can edit the privacy settings of your published StoryCorps App or StoryCorps Connect interviews on archive.storycorps.org by following the step-by-step instructions below:
- Log into your archive.storycorps.org account.
- Select My Interviews & Profile from the drop-down menu in the upper right corner of the screen.
- Select the interview you'd like to adjust on your profile page. You can also choose to click the gear ⚙️ icon when hovering your mouse over the interview to go directly to the interview edit screen.
- Select the Edit Interview option below your interview photo and to the right of your interview description.
- Select Privacy from the menu on the left side of the screen or scroll down to the Who Can Listen to This Interview? section of the interview edit screen.
- Select the new privacy setting for your interview. You can choose from Public, StoryCorps Community, or Private.
- Once you've made your changes, select Save & Archive to finish updating your interview’s privacy settings.
Please note: If you recorded your interview using an alternate recording app or digital audio recorder and then manually uploaded the files to archive.storycorps.org, you will also use the instructions above to update the privacy settings of your interview. |
If you recorded a Signature Interview with a trained StoryCorps facilitator or used a StoryKit
If you have claimed your Signature interview on archive.storycorps.org and it appears on your profile page, you can control the interview’s privacy settings. How do I "Claim" my Signature Interview in the Online Archive?
Once you claim your Signature interview, you can adjust the interview's privacy settings on archive.storycorps.org by following the step-by-step instructions below:
- Log into your archive.storycorps.org account.
- Select My Interviews & Profile from the drop-down menu in the upper right corner of the screen.
- Select the interview you'd like to adjust on your profile page.
- Select the Edit Visibility option below your interview photo and to the right of your interview description.
- Select the privacy setting for your interview. You can choose from Public, StoryCorps Community, or Private.
- Once you've made your changes, select Update to finish updating your interview’s privacy settings.
Once you claim your interview on archive.storycorps.org, you can update the privacy settings at any time. You and your interview partner both have the ability to update interview privacy settings once you’ve claimed an interview and will receive an email notification anytime changes are made to the privacy settings.
Please Note: In some rare instances, StoryCorps reserves the right to lock a Signature interview's privacy setting to private.
