There are two types of StoryCorps interviews. The first kind of interview is called a “Signature Interview” or a “Facilitated Interview” and is an interview recorded by a trained StoryCorps facilitator using StoryCorps equipment. The interview is facilitated by trained StoryCorps staff or volunteers. You can locate these interviews on archive.storycorps.org by clicking on the “Recorded by StoryCorps” option in the “Recorded By” section of our search bar.
The second type of interview is recorded by users and uploaded to the online archive using the StoryCorps App or other equipment. These interviews are referred to as a “StoryCorps App Interview” or a “User-Uploaded Interview.” These include interviews recorded using the App, recorded using StoryCorps Connect, or recorded by users with different software and uploaded into the Online Archive. You can locate these interviews by clicking on the “Recorded by Users” option in the “Recorded By” section of our search bar.
All App interviews have the prefix “APP,” while Signature interviews have a different prefix related to the venue in which the interview was recorded.
