In spring of 2020, in the face of public health concerns about COVID-19, StoryCorps suspended in-person recording operations at all our locations. In 2020 we also launched StoryCorps Virtual, a new way to conduct a facilitated, signature StoryCorps interview safely in a “virtual recording booth.”
Now, StoryCorps is excited to welcome you back to our recording booths in person starting in fall of 2021. We will continue to offer virtual appointments in addition to in-person appointments. If you would like to record in person, please review our Safe Community Agreements. If you are not willing to comply with these agreements, we will require you to record virtually.

The first recording engagement offering in-person appointments will be the StoryCorps Mobile Tour’s visit to Wilmington, NC. We anticipate we will be able to begin recording in person in our Atlanta StoryBooth in October 2021, with those appointments becoming available September 1, 2021.
At any time after booking an in-person appointment, you can switch your in-person appointment to a virtual appointment. To do so, please contact your recording team (there will be instructions in your confirmation email).
Please note that StoryCorps’ recommended guidelines are subject to change at the discretion of StoryCorps, and in accordance with updates to local, state, and federal regulations and policies. If the requirements above are not met, StoryCorps staff will be able to end the recording. If health guidelines inhibit StoryCorps from recording interviews in person, StoryCorps staff will reschedule in-person appointments to take place virtually.
