This article is for Signature interviews recorded in-person, but you can find more information about our virtual recording sessions here. To stay up-to-date on our safety guidelines and COVID-19 policies, read our Safe Community Agreements.
As StoryCorps recording locations safely return to recording in person, we are monitoring COVID rates in each recording area and, unless that area is in CODE RED, masking will be optional in the recording space. Please bring a mask with you in case we need to implement that policy as we are updating this information on a weekly basis according to the CDC COVID Data Tracker. StoryCorps will provide masks if needed.
In preparation for recording safely face-to-face, StoryCorps staff conducted significant testing with our equipment to address concerns about face coverings affecting sound quality. While it may seem unlikely, wearing a face covering does not have a noticeable impact on the sound quality of StoryCorps interviews.
During your appointment your facilitator will be monitoring the sound. In the unlikely event that your specific style of face mask has an unanticipated impact on the recording, StoryCorps staff will have disposable masks available that you can use instead.
