As StoryCorps recording locations safely return to recording in person, all participants and StoryCorps staff will wear masks fastened snugly over their noses and mouths when interacting in the greeting area and while in the recording space. StoryCorps will provide masks if needed. Masks are still needed for vaccinated individuals.
In preparation for recording safely face-to-face, StoryCorps staff conducted significant testing with our equipment to address concerns about face coverings affecting sound quality. While it may seem unlikely, wearing a face covering does not have a noticeable impact on the sound quality of StoryCorps interviews.
During your appointment your facilitator will be monitoring the sound. In the unlikely event that your specific style of face mask has an unanticipated impact on the recording, StoryCorps staff will have disposable masks available that you can use instead.
